It is important that you understand and observe the Rules and Regulations for the Tour of Cyprus Cycle Tour at all times. When entering the ToC you will need to confirm that you have understood the rules and will abide by them.

 

  • Participants must ride road bikes (Group 1) or road/mountain/cross bikes (Group 2) equipped with slick tyres suitable for long distances. No time trial or unconventional handlebars are allowed.
  • Participants must be 18 years or over on the start day of the eventor over 16 with guardians written permission.
  • Bikes should be in a technically perfect condition. Please ensure that bikes are properly serviced before the tour. It is advisable to have new tyres fitted on the bikes to reduce the possibility of punctures.
  • Participants should wear helmets cycling uniforms at all riding times throughout the tour.
  • It is recommended that participants take with them sufficient quantity of cycling clothing, rain and wind proof light jackets and an appropriate bag for the dirty clothes. Post riding and evening wear is casual.
  • Participants should familiarise themselves with the event itinerary.
  • Riders must ensure that each day they are present at the course start location no later than 15 minutes before the designated start time. First day of the tour riders must be present at the start location at least 1 hour before the start time. The event will not be delayed if a Participant fails to present him/herself at the appropriate time.
  • In order to avoid delays no unscheduled stops will be allowed except in emergencies. First aid and technical assistance will be provided by the support vehicles.
  • It is important to keep distances between riders as short as possible in order to maintain the highest possible level of safety and support. Marshals will make sure this is achieved.
  • Riders of Group 2 who stay far behind the rest of the group or requiring a rest will be able to catch up with using one of the support vehicles. If for reasons of safety or the smooth running of the event you are requested to take a ride in one of the support vehicles, you must comply. Failure to do so may result in disqualification for that part or the whole of the remaining tour.
  • Participants may not pass the tour leading vehicle at any time unless directed by a police officer or a marshal.
  • The instructions of the designated tour leader(s) and the marshals must be obeyed at all times. Failure to do so may result in discontinuing your participation from the event.
  • Participants should obey all road traffic regulations at all times and cooperate with the traffic police.
  • Riders must act in a sporting manner and adhere to group riding etiquette and not endanger themselves or their fellow riders.
  • No littering is allowed! Those who litter along the road or throw garbage into the ditches or countryside will be forced to stop and pick it up.
  • Participants must ensure that they are fit for the start as well as for the whole duration of the event.
  • Participants must inform the organisers if they do not feel well and seek medical advice if they have any medical or health concern.
  • In the event of severe or extreme weather conditions, the tour leader in consultation with the marshals may decide to interrupt the day’s course. Travel arrangements will be made to transfer all riders to the overnight stop accordingly.
  • Participants must wear their identification number provided at all times during riding as well as during each day’s course.
  • Riders bikes must also have the identification number provided, positioned and displayed as instructed at all times during the event.
  • Use of mobile phones by participants of while riding is not allowed. If a rider needs to make or receive a call he must stop at the side of the road to do so.
  • Use of a stereo headset, MP3 player or similar device whilst riding is not allowed by participants.
  • Bad weather will not be a reason for cancelling the whole or part of the event unless the organisers deem so for safety reasons. In such case entry fees will not be refundable.
  • Participants should be aware that the Event may be filmed, photographed and recorded and by accepting the rules and regulations they grant permission to the event organisers to use such images and recordings of themselves.
  • The event raises money for charity and participants are encouraged and expected to raise sponsorship for the chosen charities.
  • Entry to the Event is at the sole discretion of the Organizers.
  • The fees for this event are non-refundable if you decide to cancel your participation or part thereof without giving enough warning or without prior arrangement with the tour leader as per relevant terms. The same applies if you are forced to withdraw from this event.
  • Participants acknowledge that they take part in the event entirely at their own risk and are fully aware that the Organisers accept no liability for any accidents, damages or losses, of human or material nature, that might occur during the tour.

WAIVER AND INDEMNITY

Participants hereby acknowledge that they take part in the “Tour of Cyprus” (‘the Event’) and all functions and events related thereto entirely at their own risk.

Participants hereby agree for themselves, their executors, administrators, heirs, next-of-kin, successors and assigns to waive release and discharge and shall neither have nor institute any claims whatsoever against “Tour of Cyprus” or “Podilatokinisi” (‘the Organizers’) and its directors, associates, trustees and shareholders (if any), local provincial and national governmental authorities, participating clubs, event sponsors and other involved organizations (‘the Entities’) and their employees, agents or contractors to the fullest extent permissible under any applicable law.

Participants hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Entities and their employees, agents or contractors from all liability and claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of the Participant’s actions during the Event.

This waiver and indemnity covers death, disability, personal injury, damage to and loss of property of a participant (including theft of or damage to a bicycle in areas under the control of the Entities and the Individuals) and is effective whether or not such death, injury, damage or loss may have been caused directly or indirectly or wholly or partly by any act or omission including negligence, of any of the Entities or their respective servants agents and contractors and will bind the heirs, executors and/or trustees of the estate of a participant.

Persons signing this indemnity as the parent and/or guardian of a minor hereby agree to such minor being bound by the foregoing waiver and indemnity, and do hereby further indemnify and hold harmless the Entities against any and all liability and claims by such minor to the extent if any to which such minor is not capable of waiving his rights as stipulated above.

Should liability be found to exist in respect of any one of the Entities for any reason then that liability shall not exist in respect of the other Entities unless specific grounds exist for liability on the part of the other Entity or Entities.

DECLARATION

I have read and agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations and FAQ/Guidelines which I understand may change from time to time and be posted on the web site www.tourofcyprus.com. I have read and agree to the terms of the Waiver and Indemnity above.

I understand that the Event will involve prolonged strenuous activity and that I need to achieve an appropriate level of fitness in order to participate. Before the start of the Event, if I have any concerns whatsoever about my physical fitness or health, or any medical conditions that may affect my safe participation, I will consult my Doctor.  I certify that I am physically fit and I hereby assume all the risks of participating in the Event.

If I experience any pain or discomfort during the Event I will immediately inform the Organizer.  I agree to submit to any medical examination diagnosis or treatment administered by a suitably-qualified medical professional (‘Medical Professional’).

The medical information included on the entry form may be released by the Organizer to such Medical Professional as may be appropriate in the event of illness or an accident on the trip and I hereby consent to such medical treatment as may be deemed advisable and authorize the Organizer to notify my next of kin.

I understand that the Event may be filmed, photographed and recorded and hereby grant permission to the event organizers to use such images and recordings of myself.

I hereby certify that the information provided by me for this Event is true and correct.
